Building approvals in Queensland showed a positive trend in February 2013, according to newly-published figures from the Housing Industry Association (HIA).
Total seasonally-adjusted building approvals for residential properties in the sunshine state rose by 3.8 per cent, according to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
This compares to the national lift of 3.1 per cent – and could provide further evidence that the sunshine state is a great place to buy and build property in 2013.
HIA economist Geordan Murray said the figures could represent the first tangible sign of improved consumer sentiment flowing down into property construction – and may represent evidence of sustained recovery in the property market.
He explained: "After two consecutive months where approval numbers slipped back it is pleasing to see a material improvement in February."
